#042 SOLD Made in West Germany Signed Glass Cabochon Floral Transfer Necklace


A wonderful example of fine vintage West German craftsmanship. This necklace presents a beautiful rose garden transfer on a pronged glass cabochon.  There is an aurora borealis chaton on the end of the centerpiece and is in a dogtooth prong setting. The border of the pendant is adorned with beautiful filigree scrollwork. this pendant is set off once again by the Brass filigree workmanship of the chain. A lightweight link chain attaches ornate 1" long filigree beads to a glass pearl on each side ending with a filigree heart to hold the pendant. Very soft, feminine and elegant! In 1949, Germany split to West and East Germany. the country as a whole,created exceptional examples of costume jewelry.Items produced including costume jewelry made before and up through 1948 are marked: "Germany". Those made in 1949 from West Germany were marked: "Western Zone Germany", "American Zone Germany", "W. Germany", "West Germany", "Made in West Germany", and "Made in Western Germany". In East Germany, items were marked: "German Democratic Republic". To sum, jewelry pieces marked just "Germany" were almost certain to be pre-WWII unless they are newer (1990 - Present).

This piece is signed on the ring part of the C-Clasp and can been in the last photo.

Measurements:  Necklace: 24" long, Cabochon 2 1/2" long, 2" wide

In very good vintage condition.  No scratches, wear or damage of any kind to the cabochon.  No flaking or discoloration to the pearls.  No flaking or discoloration to the gold tone chain.  No discoloration or flaking to the back of the cabochon.  C-clasp closure in perfect working condition.
